The most common confusion around government paperwork is the idea of a single price. In reality there are almost always two numbers, and keeping them separate saves you from nasty surprises.
Government fee vs service fee
- Government fee - the statutory charge set by the department that issues the document. It can be zero (Udyam), a fixed small amount (PAN), or variable and based on your transaction (property mutation, some licences).
- Service fee - what a private e-services agency like us charges to prepare your application correctly, file it on the official portal, follow up and deliver the result. This is our fee for the work, and it is separate from any government fee.
What the government charges, item by item
These are the statutory positions, independent of any agency. They are set by the respective departments and can change:
- Udyam (MSME) registration - no government fee. It is free on the official portal, and any charge you pay an agency is purely for doing the work for you.
- PAN card - a small fixed government fee applies for a new PAN or correction, whether you apply yourself or through an agent.
- FSSAI food licence - a government fee that scales with the tier (Basic, State, Central) and the number of years you choose.
- Gumasta (Shops & Establishment) - a government charge under the MP Shops and Establishment Act, which can vary with the number of employees.
- Property mutation (Namantaran) - department charges that depend on the nature of the transfer and the property.
How to read our prices
On every service page we show a single, flat service fee - what we charge to handle that specific service end to end. Where a government fee also applies, it is separate and, where relevant, collected at the government portal. We do not bundle hidden margins into government fees, and we tell you before you pay if a statutory charge is involved.
Why paying for help can still be cheaper
A rejected application costs you time and, for some services, a repeat government fee. Getting the documents and categories right the first time - which is what an agency does day in and day out - often works out cheaper than a do-it-yourself attempt that bounces back.
